Hello. I am Steve Hindes, the author of Think For Yourself! I want to say thank you to anyone who has taken a moment to send me feedback or to have a discussion about the ideas presented in this book.
I intend for this book to be informative and also fun, challenging and also fair. Ultimately, it should be a useful learning tool for being able to cut through the misinformation, rhetoric, spin, and wishful thinking that people thrust at us every day. Even better if the book helps us realize that maybe, at times, we ourselves are tempted to present our arguments in less-than-balanced fashion as well.
I invite any and all comments. I hope in particular that you would share with me any examples from the daily media of rhetorical comments, fallacies of thinking, or other violations of rational and fair discourse on the issues of our day. As always, let me know if you think I have made any errors of fact in the book - I promise to research and correct any such mistake.
I hope that in reading this book you will think of family members, colleagues, friends, and elected officials that might benefit from or simply enjoy reading this book. We all know persons whose conversation all too often is laced with one example after another of the types of devices we discuss in this book.
